PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission between the outer ring of a power roller and a trunnion allowing the swinging movement of the power roller and capable of reliably and inexpensively positioning a thrust needle bearing that accepts the thrust of the power roller. SOLUTION: The toroidal continuously variable transmission is provided with an input disk and an output disk arranged concentrically and oppositely, a power roller snapped and pressed between the input/output disks allowing for power transmission, a trunnion that is fixed to the transmission case in tiltable and rollable manner and supports the power roller rotatably. A positioning unit for positioning the thrust needle bearing is provided on the contour of a shaft part which forms the swinging center of a pivot shaft.
