PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner of a flat bed type capable of reading contents of a transparent original with high quality without the need for increasing the thickness of the image scanner. SOLUTION: A reflector for reading a transparent original includes many mirror-finished reflectors 1a to 1c. The reflectors 1a to 1c are installed at an equal interval over the entire area of the size of a loadable transparent original in the subscanning direction. Each of the reflectors 1a to 1c is placed so that its normal direction is tilted inbetween a direction when viewing a light source 21 from a reflected part and a direction when viewing a condenser lens 22 from the reflected part. That is, the reflectors 1a to 1c are placed so that a reflection direction of light made incident from the light source 21 (incident direction from a virtual light source 21A) is coincident with a center axis of the condenser lens 22. Moreover, the surface of the reflectors 1a to 1c is formed projecting toward the light source 31.
