PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high-oxygen titanium by which the content of oxygen in sponge titanium is increased uniformly in the entire body. SOLUTION: Sponge titanium is produced by a Kroll process with titanium tetrachloride having an oxygen content of 10 to 100 ppm as the raw material. As the titanium tetrachloride, the one obtained by adding a titanium tetrachloride aqueous solution to titanium tetrachloride is used.
