PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for automatically depressing a release button by recognizing and discriminating a face image so as not to lose the photo opportunity and for preventing an unsharpened picture from being photographed so as to record only sharp pictures. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus of this invention comprises; an image memory 20 for storing one picture of an object; an image capturing section 21 for capturing the picture stored in the memory to other memory or a register in a prescribed unit; a control section 22 for controlling the entire sections; a face feature storage section 24 for storing features of a plurality of faces; a recognition/discrimination section 23 for recognizing a face on the basis of data from the image capturing section 21 and data from the face feature storage section 24 to discriminate each part of the face; an edge detection section 26 for detecting an edge detection value from the resulting data; and an output section 25 for externally outputting the final determination result. |
