<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device to control tape tension of a magnetic tape device through which fluctuation in tape tension is adjusted without being adversely affected by winding radius of the tape around a take-up reel. SOLUTION: The device is provided with means 123, 124, 131 and 141 which are used to detect the take-up radius of the tape, a means 151 which detects tape tension of the tape and a correction current computing section 154. The section 154 converts tension fluctuation into motor current to correct for the fluctuation in accordance with the tape take-up radius of the reel using the computational result of the tape take-up radius of reel radius computing sections 131 and 141. As a result, tape tension is always being controlled at a constant level regardless of the size of the tape take-up radius by increasing or decreasing the motor current.</p> |
