PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coated paper which contains a coating composition comprising a pigment and an aqueous binder and has excellent printing suitability such as an ink setting property and excellent optical characteristics such as print gloss. SOLUTION: This coated paper prepared by sequentially laminating a coating composition A containing a pigment and an aqueous binder and a coating composition B containing a pigment and an aqueous binder to base paper is characterized in that the air permeability of coated paper X prepared by laminating the coating composition A to the base paper is smaller than the air permeability of coated paper Y prepared by laminating the coating composition B to the base paper. The air permeability is a value measured using the coated paper X and the coated paper Y obtained by laminating the coating composition A and the coating composition B in a coating amount (solid content) of 15 g/m<2> only one side on a wood-free paper NPI (produced by Nippon Seishi Co.) as the base paper, respectively.
