The selective displacement of needles (3) in a loom using a Jacquard-type mechanism consists of a support (2) made from a number of modules (4) with cavities (5) in which the free ends (6) of the needles can slide. Each module has channels (7) linked to the cavities (5) and containing sliding locking rods (8) controlled by an electromechanical system to permit or prevent, partially or totally, the displacement of the needles' free ends, positioning the needles selectively in a lower or upper position following each action of a thrust mechanism. The modules have recesses (10) for the electromechanical system, each recess being located in the same plane as a needle, with staggered rows of recesses able to accommodate the spacing between two parallel rows of needles. The electromechanical system has electromagnets that are able to actuate the locking rods, moving them in two directions in their channels.
