<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emitting element that has a large area of electron emission and can be driven by low resistance wiring, and of which electron beam diameter can be made small and manufacturing process is easy, and an electron source and an image forming device. SOLUTION: This is a hole type element that comprises a plurality of electron emitting parts that have nearly circular opening in one picture element, and in which the distance between the openings in a second direction that is perpendicular to a first direction is larger than the distance between the openings in the first direction. By forming the openings of the electron emitting parts in this way, low resistance wiring can be realized at the place where the distance of the openings are larger while making the emitting area large, and the overall drive can be made easy. And since the distance of the openings in the first direction is not larger than the diameter of the openings, emission area can be made large. Further, it is particularly effective when the diameter of the above openings is 5μm or less.</p> |
