PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for retrieving a service in a short processing time without excessively increasing a traffic in a network. SOLUTION: When the retrieval of the service is requested, this service retrieval unit according to the present invention sets the retrieval range of the service in a broad network in accordance with a geographic viewpoint and the communication conditions of the network, based on the application conditions of a requester and the service and retrieves the service included in a set retrieval range. The service retrieval unit is each provided in a plurality of networks comprising the board network, and detects a service server included in each network to collect service information. The collected service information is also notified to service retrieval units in other networks.
