PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system allowing the minimum time for printing all times by optimally allocating the processing of conversion from description data to development data to a host device and a printing device depending on the processing capability of the printing device and the processing capability of the host device connected to the printing device. SOLUTION: The printing system comprises means for calculating a first time required for the host device to generate the development data for driving a printing mechanism part of the printing device in accordance with the description data, based on the description data for printing described in a printer description language, means for calculating a second time required for the printing device to generate the development data in accordance with the description data, based on the description data, means for comparing the first time with the second time, means for the host device to generate the development data in accordance with the description data when the first time is shorter than the second time, and means for the printing device to generate the development data in accordance with the description data when the second time is shorter than the first time. |
