PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the arithmetic operation at image processing time when executing image processing by extracting the feature quantity of picture elements for constituting an actual photographing image. SOLUTION: A computer 21 receives image data with respective blocks of the actual photographing image divided into lateral 3 blocks and longitudinal 5 blocks, totalizes a histogram of luminance with respective blocks, and reevaluates the totalized luminance by using weighting imparted with respective blocks. For example, the luminance can be reevaluated by putting emphasis on the blocks of a central part of the image. The adjusting degree of contrast and lightness is determined on the basis of the luminance distribution after such reevaluation. |
