PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase contrast film having excellent physical characteristics such as transparency, thermal stability and shock resistance and excellent optical characteristic such as photoelastic constant. SOLUTION: The phase contrast film is formed from a copolymer polycarbonate resin or a polycarbonate resin blend consisting of a structural unit (I) expressed by general formula (I) and a structural unit (II) expressed by formula (II) with the proportion of the mole fraction of the structural unit (I) ranging from 15 to 85% to the total of the structural units (I) and (II).
