PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a substantially colorless isophthalic acid compound polymer and a substantially colorless pigment dispersing agent capable of realizing stable and good pigment dispersibility and fluidity and having excellent light transmission properties. SOLUTION: The isophthalic acid compound polymer is represented by formula (1) [wherein, (n) is an integer of 2-5; R<1> is an n-valent connecting group; R<2> to R<5> are each H, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group or an aryl group; A<1> to A<3> are each an alkylene group, an arylene group or an alkenylene group; X<1> is a single bond, -O-, -N(R<6> )-, -NHCO, -CONH, -OCO-, -CO2 -, -CO-, -SO2 NH- or -SO3 -; and X<2> s are each -CONH- or -CO2 -]. The pigment dispersing agent comprises the isophthalic acid compound polymer.
