PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve simplification and power-saving by preventing the construction from becoming increasingly complex due to elongated electrode wiring, etc., and reducing the electric power for continuing display of a fixed image. SOLUTION: The image display device is provided with: a large number of pixels arranged in a matrix shape and fixed films (fixed bodies) 11 arranged in a large number in the position corresponding to the pixels with a predetermined gap and having the surface colored in a first color; a large number of movable films (movable bodies) 12 which are inserted and pulled out from the back surfaces of the fixed films 11 over the upper surfaces of the fixed films 11 through gaps, are superimposed on the surface of respective fixed films 11 and are colored in a second color; support films (support bodies) 13 which allow the movable films 12 to be inserted and pulled out into/from respective gaps by supporting the respective movable films 12 turnably and turning them on the back surfaces of the fixed films 11; and a turning angle switchover device 18 being a means to change the turning angle of the support film 13.
