The invention relates to a device for protection against flame flashback while processing metals with oxy-gas flame, meant especially for equipping the acetylene generators. According to the invention, said device comprises an admission chamber (A), having inside a liquid retained by a membrane plug (4) oriented by a stopper (5) provided with orifices. The gas passing through the meshes of a sieve (8), which makes the connection to a combustion and discharge chamber (B), passes out towards the consummer through a nozzle (9). In the moment of the flame firing and propagation towards the generator, the sieve (8) having the mesh diameter under the critical flame propagation limit prevents the propagation thereof. The pression formed by the gas firing actuates upon the membrane plug (4) obturating the gas inlet orifice (2), and the pressurized burnt gases break the membrane (10) and pass out through a sieve (11) which does not allow the flame propagation into the atmosphere.
