PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily select a channel of a program of a desired category. SOLUTION: A determination circuit 101 extracts a selection code indicative of a program category included in an image signal of a program of a channel selected by a channel selection circuit 111 and gives the selection code to a control circuit 82. When a remote controller 200 is operated and outputs the selection code corresponding to the category of the program desired by a user, the control circuit 82 receives the selection code via a remote control signal reception circuit 112. The control circuit 82 controls the channel selection circuit 111 so that the selection code supplied from the determination circuit 101 is coincident with the selection code from the remote controller 200.
