PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for holding a carriage to hold the carriage as a positioned state by simple structure and to facilitate works to the carriage. SOLUTION: The device for holding the carriage having a rotational arm to be rotated by providing a rotational supporting part to rotatably support the carriage and a pressing part, a first rotation regulating member and a second rotation regulation member is constituted and holding of the carriage is enabled by pressing the side of the carriage by the rotational arm and regulating rotation of the carriage by the first and second rotation regulation members. Thus, the device and the method for holding the carriage capable of holding the carriage at the positioned state by the simple structure and to facilitate the works to the carriage are constituted.
