PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To photograph a still picture and moving pictures for several frames before and after the still picture so as to store the photographed still picture and moving pictures in associating with each other and to reproduce and display the photographed still picture and the moving pictures for several frames before and after the photographed still picture. SOLUTION: When no SW 113 is depressed, MPEG compression processing is executed for captured image data for one frame and the compressed data are temporarily stored in a buffer 107d. When the SW 113 is depressed, JPEG compression processing is executed for captured image data for one frame, MPEG compression processing is executed for image data of next and succeeding frames, and the compressed data are appended to the tail end address of the buffer 107d to be stored. At the expiration of time, a JPEG file is created on the basis of data subjected to the JPEG compression, and an MPEG file is created on the basis of MPEG compression data for a plurality of frames stored in the buffer 107d.
