The invention relates to a device for producing solid aerosols and to the process for making said device in order to generate a saline-like atmosphere having prophylactic activity in healthy persons and therapeutic effects in persons suffering from respiratory affections. According to the invention, the device comprises several plates having flat shape, cylinder shape or other shapes, coated with microcrystallin deposits of NaCl with large specific surface wherethrough the air is forced. The process consists in depositing crystals having an average size of 0.1 mm, due to a NaCl oversaturated substance, on surfaces covered with gauze.
