PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance overwriting properties in high speed recording by optimizing the initial state of the material of a recording layer. SOLUTION: The optical information recording medium which has the recording layer consisting essentially of Ga, Sb and Te on a transparent substrate and by which recording, reproduction and/or erasure of information are optically performed is characterized in that reflectance R of the medium is varied depending on irradiation energy density E at initialization of the medium, the reflectance has scattered values in the range of E1 <E<E2 and the medium is initialized in the range of E<E1 . |
