RECEIVER AND RECEPTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve channel estimate accuracy so as to obtain a demodulation signal with high reception quality at high-speed without the need for increasing number of pilot signals and transmission power. SOLUTION: A pilot symbol channel estimate section 110 estimates a pilot symbol channel. Virtual pilot symbol channel estimate sections 120-1 to 120-4 assume symbol patterns allowed by virtual pilot symbol channels to estimate the channel. Synchronization detection sections 150-1 to 150-4 perform synchronization detection by using sums of the results of multiplication by multiplier sections 130, 140-1 to 140-4. A selection section 200 compares the virtual pilot symbol and the symbol pattern of the pilot symbol with the detection results of the virtual pilot symbol and the symbol pattern of the pilot symbol amount the detection results from the synchronization detection sections 150-1 to 150-4 to select the result with the least error as a demodulation signal.
