PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noncombustible calcium carbonate hardened body to which a solidifying assistant is not added, and which is suitable for building materials such as building interior and exterior materials, ceiling materials, partition wall materials, tiles and pavement materials, and to provide a method for producing the noncombustible calcium carbonate hardened body in which calcium carbonate powder can easily and firmly be hardened in the presence of water even without undergoing the addition of a hardening (solidifying) assistant. SOLUTION: The calcium carbonate hardened body is obtained by adding water to calcium carbonate powder of calcite crystals in which particles are communicated in a chainlike way so as to be compacted into the shape of a gel, and after that, hardening the gelatinized material. In the method for producing the calcium carbonate hardened body, water is added to the calcium carbonate powder of calcite crystals in which particles are communicated in the chainlike way so as to be made into the shape of the gel, and after that, the gelatinized material is subjected to die molding, and the molding is successively subjected to cold-atmospheric curing, hydrothermal curing or steam curing, and is hardened.
