PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem type image forming apparatus capable of obtaining a good transferred image by preventing abnormal transfer such as irregularities in an image caused by the interference of a transfer bias. SOLUTION: Photoreceptor drums 40C, 40M, 40Y, 40B are made to electrically float up from a printer main body by a bearing consisting of an insulating member, and then, each drum is separately connected to a transfer high voltage power source 41 being a transfer bias applying means so as to individually apply a set voltage on each drum. Besides, a DC voltage or AC+DC voltage added with a transfer voltage is applied to an electrifying roller 60 and a developing device 61 so as to electrify the photoreceptor drum with a target potential and so as to apply a target developing bias. Primary transfer is performed by applying a primary transfer bias on the photoreceptor drum in this way.
