PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser planer that is remotely operable omnidirectionally. SOLUTION: The laser planer is provided with a rotary head 14 rotatably supported at a main body case 12 for forming a horizontally rotating irradiation light, a drive motor M1 for rotating the rotary head 14, light receiving elements D for receiving an operation signal (infrared light) from a remote controller 100, a control part (CPU) for controlling the drive of the drive motor M1 on the basis of the operation signal received by the light receiving element D. Since the light receiving elements D (D1 -D8 ) are provided correspondingly to the radial directions obtained by equally dividing the whole azimuth into four or more directions and any light receiving element D receives the operation signal (infrared light) of the remote controller 100, it is possible to perform control in such a way that the rotary head 14 (light emitting opening) turns in a direction adapting to the light receiving element which has received the signal by the control part (CPU).
