PURPOSE: An overcharging-preventing electrolyte solution for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery using the electrolyte solution are provided, to enable the electrical current to be blocked at a temperature of 100 deg.C or more or at a voltage of 4.3 V or more by polymerization, for improving the stability and inhibiting the overheating and firing of a battery due to the exposure to a high temperature or the overcharging. CONSTITUTION: The overcharging-preventing electrolyte solution comprises 45-95 wt% of a chain-type carbonate and 5-55 wt% of 1,3-dioxolane. Preferably the chain-type carbonate is a mixture of methylethyl carbonate and diethyl carbonate in the ratio of 2:8 to 8:2 by weight. Optionally overcharging-preventing electrolyte solution comprises further an inhibitor of polymerization of an electrolyte solution to the amount of 5 vol% or less of 1,3-dioxolane. Preferably the inhibitor of polymerization of an electrolyte solution is selected from the group consisting of trimethyl amine, triethyl amine, tripropyl amine, tributyl amine and tribenzyl amine. |
