A method for track control for use in a CNC type machine tool with a numerical controller (4), where an edge tolerance and a larger curve tolerance for the corners of a tool track (1) are set. The corners for the tool track given in a sub- program are allocated either the edge tolerance, when running to the edge of a workpiece (2), or the curve tolerance, when merely approaching a curvilinear, continuously differentiable curve.
