A process control method for determination of the processing times of workpieces in all the processing stations of a whole process. Accordingly a control points is used to calculate effective processing times (BZeff) for each processing station. The minimum processing time (BZmin) is subtracted from the effective processing time for each processing station to yield an effective interference time (SZeff) that is adaptively stored so that it can be taken into account in any optimization of the running process. An Independent claim is made for a system for process optimization by determination of processing times of workpieces at different processing stations. The system has timers (20, 21) at individual processing stations (R2, R4), a controlling computer (1), an addressable memory field (2) and electronic evaluation units.
