The drive has a housing with water flowing through, and a transmission, located in a separate chamber protected against water contamination. The chamber has an opening around the pivot axis of the driven shaft. The shaft has a plate covering the opening, a drive element driven by the transmission, and coupling elements to drive a sprinkler head. The plate engages sliding with a smooth surface on the opening edge, due to a compression force applied by an elastic element. This also serves as seal on a housing aperture around a hollow shaft of the sprinkler.
