Scanner arrangement for support of a motor vehicle speed capture system cited in patent 100 38 731.4. The arrangement comprises an additional row or surface camera (2) arranged in the same horizontal plane as a sub-surface camera (1) and at a suitable vertical height for detection of the angular velocity of a passing motor vehicle. The measurements of the cameras are used to determine the vehicle's linear velocity.
