The device for the linear movement and positioning of working equipment consists of two linear guides (6,7) at right angles to each other, and upon each of which is installed an axially movable carriage (8,9). A drive roller (1) and a deflection roller (5) are permanently positioned in relation to one linear guide (6), and other deflection rollers (2,4) are installed on the carriage. A deflection roller (3) is provided at the end of the other linear guide so that a toothed belt (10) is guided over all the deflection rollers and the drive roller in a T-shaped path and at suitable points is connected to the guide carriage.
