The aim of the invention is, when networking communications installations within a communications system, to make available, in a system-wide manner, features that are available in one of the communications installations. The invention relates to a communications system and to a method for controlling features in a communications system. According to the invention, an item of feature control information (FCI), which is input for a subscriber line (P0) of a first communications installation (PBX1), is transmitted to a second communications installation (PBX2). The item of feature control information (FCI) is converted into at least one function call (FCA), whose associated function is provided by a computer telephony integration interface (CTI). Th e function call (FCA) is transmitted via the computer telephony integration interface (CTI) to the first communications installation (PBX1). At least on e feature control instruction (C1-Cn) contained in the function call (FCA) is executed by an administration and maintenance device (AMD) of the first communications installation (PBX1). In addition, the invention provides that a first communications installation connected to the CTI interface depicts a controlled instance with regard to a feature control, whereas a second communications installation connected to the CTI interface depicts a controlling instance. This makes it possible to render a feature control existing in the second communications installation useable for the first communications installation.
