The invention concerns a method for controlling an engine exhaust system (1) comprising a particulate filter (6) coated with a catalytic phase, which consists in actuating regeneration assisting means in accordance with specific criteria, the operating parameters being adjusted on the basis of the operating cycle of the regeneration of the filter (6). Said method is characterized in that it comprises: a step which consists in determining the loading status of the particulate filter (6) obtained either by an estimate of the amount of soot trapped in the filter from a model, or by measuring the amount of soot trapped in the filter from differential pressure measurement, the choice between estimating or measuring the amount of trapped soot depending on the running conditions of the vehicle; a step which consists in continuously monitoring the regeneration phase evolution of the particulate filter (6). |
