Surge-charged trough assembly removes solid particulate matter from effluent water with chain-driven particle trap belt

A water treatment assembly has an elongated water trough, circulation and transport pumps and a solids discharge zone. The trough base zone may have a chain-driven particle trap belt running over the trough floor. The conveyer belt rises up a slope towards the discharge zone and incorporates an assembly to mix the effluent water with a flocculation agent. The container sidewalls converge towards the base and releasing coarse particles onto the conveyer belt. The circulation (9) and transport (9) pumps are located at one end of the trough. An Independent claim is also included for a process to treat effluent water by removal of coarse particles, rendering it fit for the subsequent removal of sludge.
