Apparatus for breaking up clods and separating unwanted material from soil (1) comprises means (2) for lifting soil and clods from the ground, a main inclined conveyor (3) for receiving the lifted soil, clods and other material, conveying the soil, clods and other material upwardly therealong and allowing the soil to fall therethrough back to the ground. In order to enhance clod break up, a further conveyor (6) is provided at the uphill end (5) of the main conveyor (3), the further conveyor (6) being tiltable into a steeper inclination than the main conveyor (3) to allow clods to tumble and break up.
