Valve plate comprises a metal sheet provided with an anticorrosion layer. The plate is subjected to a direct voltage field in a water bath containing an anticorrosion material in suspension. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for producing the valve plate comprising a coating container (10) containing a cathode and a suspension (12) of the anticorrosion material, a conveyor belt (16) for receiving valve plates, and an anode strip (22) of chain which moves with the conveyor belt through the container.
