The adapter head (22) has spindle element (26) mounted rotatable in a head housing (24) which can be coupled through a clamping shaft (30) to the tool socket (14) of the outer spindle (16) and which can be additionally connected rotationally secured to the machine housing through an anti rotation lock (32). The clamping shaft is coaxial with the rotary axis (28) of the spindle element which in turn has at one end a coupling member (34) which can be coupled rotationally secured to the coupling member of the inner spindle and at its other end has a tool socket with integrated tension mechanism (38). Independent claim describes adapter head with outer spindle, independently driven inner spindle and head housing connecting with tool socket of outer spindle and with machine housing.
