MULTI-LEVEL OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM REPRODUCING METHOD AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

A multi−level optical recording medium reproducing method in which an optical recording medium (10) with record data recorded therein according to a multi−level recording method specifying the light reflectance of an imaginary recording cell (S) in a multi−stage is rotated, reproducing laser beam is emitted toward the optical recording medium (10), and the record data is reproduced based on the electric signal generated according to the reception level of the reflected light. The emission power of the reproducing laser beam is specified to be within a range from 1.0 mW to 2.5 mW when the optical recording medium (10) is rotated in a range of the linear velocity from 9 m/sec to 25 m/sec. A record data reading accuracy can be improved while suppressing reproduction degradation of the optical recording medium (10) to the level of posing practical by no problems.
