<p>The invention concerns a device for measuring at least one mechanical property of a sample (1) of material having a controlled volatile compound concentration, said device comprising first (2a) and second (2b) jaws designed to co-operate respectively with first (11a) and second (11b) ends of the sample (1). The invention is characterized in that the device (1) comprises a sheath (3) enclosing the tested sample (1), the latter having a predetermined volatile compound content, the sheath (3) being adapted to isolate the sample (1) from outside atmosphere and comprising first (3a) and second (3b) ends respectively co-operating with the first (2a) and second (2b) jaws of the device.
