A metal gate has horizontal members (4) which are linked to an upright post (8) by hinges. The lower hinge consists of an upright pivot (12) welded (16) to the horizontal member (4) and passing through an L-shaped flange (23) attached to the upright post (8). The pivot (12) has a side-pin (14) which during installation passes through a side-slot (26) in the flange (23).
