METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING FAULT IN SYMMETRIC/ASYMMETRIC DSL SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for diagnosing fault in a symmetric/asymmetric DSL(Digital Subscriber Line) system is provided so that a subscriber directly diagnose the fault through a computer in an ADSL system. CONSTITUTION: If a fault diagnosis command is received(201), a computer checks whether an ADSL modem is an internal type or an external type(203). If the ADSL modem is the internal type, the computer tests an internal driver(205). If the ADSL modem is the external type, the computer tests an external driver(207). The computer judges whether the drivers are normal(209). If the driver are normal, the computer performs a line synchronous test(211). The computer judges whether a connection state between the ADSL modem and a DSLAM(Digital Subscriber Line Access Module central office modem pool) is normal(213). The computer tests connection with an Internet network(219). If the connection is abnormal, the computer displays a help text to a user for informing that the setup of an Internet web browser is abnormal(223).
