PURPOSE: An apparatus for setting/discriminating certification key and methods thereof are provided to prevent the damage due to the plagiarized the certification key by providing an activation signal only when the certification key, the average key input timing and the average key input pressure are also agreed. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer(100) controls the whole operation for setting and discriminating a certification key. A ROM(120) stores performance programs for controlling the operation of the microcomputer. A key input element(130) for inputting information for setting the certification key outputs the input information to the microcomputer. A timer(140) counts key pad input timing respectively and outputs a signal to the microcomputer. Key input pressure detection element(150) detects the respective pressure of key input and outputs a signal to the microcomputer. A RAM(160) stores the certification key, the key input timing, and the key input pressure. When a user inputs a certification key, the microcomputer discriminates the input certification key, the key input timing, and the key input pressure according to the program stored in the ROM and operates a warning element(180) when the input key information is not agreed with preset ones while operates a load(170) to issue an operation signal.
