A linkage for converting angular movement of an input shaft 12 to linear movement of an output rod 38 pivoted to an intermediate shaft 22 parallel to the input shaft 12 by an eccentric pin 36, comprises a bifurcated lever 12a rigid with the shaft 12 and movable between stops 40, 42 in a housing 10, a block 20 on a pin 18 pivoted to the lever 12a being slidable in a longitudinal channel 28 of a lever 22a rigid with the intermediate shaft 22, such that when the lever 12a is midway between stops 40, 42 the pin 18 is close to the shaft 22 axis. Initial movement of the lever 12a from the mid-position shown (Fig. 2) causes rapid movement of the lever 22a to a maximum displacement. Further movement of lever 12a causes reversal of lever 22a and a slow movement towards the midway position. Thus the full displacement of lever 22a, and hence of the rod 38, takes place in approximately the initial eighth of the lever 12a travel. The pin 18 extends through slots 30 in the sides of the lever 22a. The linkage is used in a feedback mechanism controlling a servo valve in an aircraft control surface actuating system. |
