PURPOSE: To prevent the annoyance such as the noise in the neighboring environment due to a use of a computer peripheral device such as a printer, which generates relatively louder operation noise, in the relatively quiet environment such as at midnight, with setting of a silent mode omitted for reducing the operation noise. CONSTITUTION: In addition to a changeover between effective/ineffective states of the silent mode on a driver software to be operated on the computer by using a timer function on the computer, a user can freely set valid/invalid states in relation to a specified time zone, and on the basis of this information a control command corresponding to the present time is transmitted to the peripheral device to change the function.
