PURPOSE: An apparatus for storing a digital image using a USB memory mounted in a mobile vehicle and a method for storing the digital image using the same are provided to reduce the size of the apparatus for storing the digital image. CONSTITUTION: A photographing part(10) photographs a preliminarily set area for generating analog video data. An A/D converter converts the analog video data into digital video data. A packing part compresses the converted digital video data. A motion sensor(40) monitors motions within the preliminarily set area. A first pointer adding part receives a detecting signal from the motion sensor for inserting a motion detecting pointer into the corresponding part of the compressed digital video data. A control unit(60) controls the photographing part, the A/D converter, the packing part, and the first pointer adding part. A data matching processor converts the data received from the packing part into data in a format to be processed by the control unit. A USB storage part(50) stores the compressed digital video data added with the motion detecting pointer.
