Luminophore particle coating method, which comprises steps consisting of: introducing an inert gas into a reaction vessel; loading luminophore particles into the reaction vessel; heating the reaction vessel to a reaction temperature; introducing a coating precursor in the reaction vessel; introducing an oxygen/ozone mixture into the reaction vessel; and maintaining stirring, the inert gas stream, the oxygen/ozone mixture stream and the supply of the precursor for a sufficient period of time to coat the luminophore particles. This method makes it possible to obtain luminophores with a half-life of up to 3100 hours with outputs greater than 6 lumens per Watt (1m/w).
