807,437. Operating clutches. WALTER INSTRUMENTS Ltd. April 20, 1955 [April 20, 1954], No. 11393/54. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXXVIII] The power transmission to the take-up reel of a magnetic tape or wire sound recording and reproducing apparatus embodies a clutch which comprises a driving pulley 16, a driven disc 22 secured to the reel spindle 14, and an intermediate resilient disc 26 to the top surface of which are secured equispaced cork studs 30 and a cork ring 31 of less axial length than the studs, and to the bottom surface of which is secured a felt ring 32, the discs 22, 26 being capable of limited axial movement relative to the pulley 16. By means of a control lever 41 which slides longitudinally a clutch arm 35 bearing a cam 33, the reel spindle may be disposed in three positions of vertical adjustment in which the clutch is disengaged, or transmits light load due to engagement of studs 30 with the pulley 16, or transmits full load, Fig. 6, by flexing of the intermediate resilient disc 26 so that ring 31 also engages the pulley 16. Specifications 807,435 and 807,436, [Group XXXVIII], are referred to. |
