The method involves fastening components (1,2) together by rivets (11). Drivers (12) drive the rivets through the components and against dollies (6) to clinch them. The components to be fastened together rest on a device (3) such that the dollies are part of the device. The device has systems for positioning, securing and guiding the components. The individual dollies are positioned below the riveting points.
