PURPOSE: A process of preparing a copolyester which has a low content of unreacted material, fast dissolution rate 50 times or more as compared to a general polyester polymer and melting viscosity of general polyester levels is provided, which is simple in manufacture and permits the production of a polymer having uniform physical properties. CONSTITUTION: Dimethyl isophthalate containing a metal sulfonate group and ethylene glycol are subjected to ester interchange reaction to give bishydroxyethyl isophthalate, which is introduced into a slurry obtained from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol and then transferred to a DE reacting tank, polyalkylene ether glycol is introduced into the DE reacting tank to give the titled copolyester for conjugate yarn of formula 2. In formula, M is selected from Na, Li, K, etc. and an alkali metal.
