<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of a worker, to shorten time for adjusting the zero point and to secure the reproducibility of the accuracy of zero point adjustment in a zero point adjusting work of a universal mill. SOLUTION: In the universal mill for rolling shapes having a pair of horizontal rolls and a pair of vertical rolls, after collecting the temporary positions (P1, P2) of the zero points of the upper and lower horizontal rolls, by collecting the positional results (XL1, XR1, XL2, XR2) of the right and left vertical rolls after centering the horizontal rolls by successively bringing the right and left vertical rolls and, furthermore forcing the vertical rolls, and determining the positions of the respective zero points of the horizontal rolls and the vertical rolls by calculation from the average value of the differences between the opening degrees of the right and left vertical rolls when the upper and lower horizontal rolls are respectively centered, the angles of the contact surfaces between the horizontal rolls and the vertical rolls and P1, P2, the reproducibility of the zero point adjustment is raised and also, by operating each roll in the way of a procedure and automating the judgement of roll contact, the shortening of the working time for adjusting the zero point is enabled.</p> |
