PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can adjust the supporting height of a support member easily and accurately, prevent the occurrence of defective coating such as application stripes and application nonuniformity caused by the vibration of a metering bar, and form a coating film of a uniform thickness on the surface of a web traveling at a high speed and an apparatus for the method. SOLUTION: In the method and the apparatus in which coating liquid is applied on the surface of the traveling web and leveled off by the rotating metering bar to be applied in a desired thickness, a plurality of support means for supporting the metering bar are arranged at intervals in the longitudinal direction of the metering bar, and at least one of them has a height adjustment mechanism. |
